God’s Plan of Salvation

One of the most important questions a person will ask in life is, “What must I do to be saved?” Only by going back to God’s word, the Bible, will we be able to find the answer to this eternally important question.

God’s word explains the spiritual situation between God and man. Sin is the violation of God’s Law (1 John 3:4). The bad news is that we have all sinned, and in doing so, have separated ourselves from God (Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:2).

However, the good news (the Gospel) is that God, in His amazing love, gave His only begotten Son, who died for us that we might be reconciled to God (John 3:16-17; Romans 5:6-11). God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again bodily from the dead the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-8).

Based on Christ’s sacrifice, what must we do to be made right with God? When we read the Bible in its entirety, we find that we must:

– Hear the Gospel (Romans 10:17; Acts 10:33)

– Believe the Gospel’s message (Romans 10:9-10; Acts 8:12)

– Repent of sin (Luke 13:3, 5; Acts 17:30)

– Confess Christ (Romans 10:9-10; Acts 8:37)

– Be immersed in water for the forgiveness of sins (1 Peter 3:21; Acts 2:38).

When we are baptised, we are made right with God and are added to the body of Christ — the church (Acts 2:47; 1 Corinthians 12:13). From that point on, we must remain faithful to God all of our lives in order to stay right with Him (Revelation 2:10; Acts 11:23).
